Disk thickener

Application and essential feature

The disk thickener works like a gravity filter and does not require any barometric tubes to create a vacuum. Accordingly, it can be set at a lower level. The mass enters the intake chamber and is directed between two discs with a mesh coating. The difference in levels between the supply chamber and the filtration chamber provides the necessary hydraulic pressure drop for the separation of water and solid particles. Water flows through the gate.

 

The rotation of the disk has a double function. First, the concentrated mass is fed into the unloading chamber. Secondly, the rotation creates a "scrolling effect" of a clot of mass on the surface of the disc, producing a cleansing action. The grid of discs is cleaned by pipes with sprayers.
